The Art of Return: Stories from formerly incarcerated men and women

Part artistic event, part live interview, the Art of Return is a one-of-a-kind space for formerly incarcerated people to share their creativity, built in collaboration with the community. In the show's first half, formerly incarcerated artists share poetry, music, and more. In the second, journalist and host Allen Arthur sits down with one formerly incarcerated person for an intimate interview, sharing the story of that person's life from childhood to incarceration to reentry through today.

With more than 44,000 people currently held in immigration detention - the highest number in U.S. history - December's Art of Return will focus on those impacted by this growing, profitable, and often shadowy form of incarceration. Our special guest will be Khalil Cumberbatch, who was not only incarcerated in prison but immigration detention as well, all before receiving a rare pardon from Governor Andrew Cuomo preventing his deportation.

This event is mixed seated/standing. Seats are first-come, first-served.
